1 lb. pork sausage or ground pork    
1 can cream of mushroom soup                   
3/4 cup milk                             
1/2 cup chopped onion            
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper
3 cups sliced potatoes, uncooked
1/2 Tbsp. butter
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 350º. Grease 1½ qt casserole dish; set aside.

Cook meat in large skillet over medium-high heat until no longer pink; drain fat.  In medium bowl, stir together soup, milk, onion, salt and pepper.  Place 1/2 of potatoes in bottom of prepared casserole dish, top with 1/2 of soup mixture, then with 1/2 of sausage.  Repeat layers, ending with sausage.  Dot with butter.

Cover pan with foil.  Bake 1¼ - 1½ hours until potatoes are tender.  Uncover; sprinkle with cheese.  Return to oven; bake until cheese is melted and bubbly.
